Summary Drivers are responsible for driving flatbed tractor trailer with tarp system capable of loading, securing, driving, and unloading at destination. Shift: Variable depending on customers location. Shifts can be up to 12-14 hour days Wage: Percentage of load; per diem Reports to: Dispatch Essential Job Functions • Perform pre and post trip inspection of engine, tires, fluids, mirrors, and windows. Reporting defects before and after trips • Maintaining driver logs according to FMSCA regulations/standards • Continual use of tools/equipment (e.g. tarps, ladders, chains, straps, etc) • Driving long distances with excellent time management skills safely • Loading and Unloading cargo • Responsible for basic vehicle maintenance; comply with all safe work practices, policies, and processes at all times. • Complete and verify paperwork for accuracy • Maintaining a positive and professional composure with customers Skills and Qualifications • Knowledge of Traffic laws and DOT regulations • Ability to lift 80 pounds repeatedly throughout day • Clean driving record • No DUI/DWI convictions in the past 7 years • Listening and verbal communication skills Experience and Education Requirements • Class A CDL with at least 3 years experience • 21 years or older • High school diploma • Steel Hauling experience – strongly preferred
