Truck Driver Job in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania

Duties The truck driver is responsible for safely operating a 26 foot box truck. This position requires the ability to lift up to 70 pounds, climb on or off of trucks at various points throughout the day as well as perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning truck interiors and moving equipment. Detailed Responsibilities: - Transport finished goods and raw materials over land to and from manufacturing plants or retail and distribution centers - Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance - Plan routes and meet delivery schedules - Document and log work/rest periods and miles spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts - Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures - Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions - Collect and verify delivery instructions - Report defects, accidents or violations Qualifications - Must be at least 21 years of age - Must have at least a valid Class B CDL with a clean driving record, as well as being insurable by the state - At least 3 years of experience of driving - Professional appearance is required - Must successfully pass DOT Physical and pre-employment drug screen and random screenings - Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) & good DAC Report - No current CDL suspension or revocation - Ability to effectively learn and operate a GPS - Must be able to use handheld technology and smart phone applications - Flexibility with work schedule (Day/Evening/Night shifts/Weekends) - Excellent customer service skills - Strong communication skills - Good time management skills
